RR 28, a small sailboat with big ambitions

RR 28

The RR 28 is a little off the beaten track of big production. This small yacht produced in Italy brings some interesting innovations. The many colourful options refresh the traditional nautical landscape.

It's a bit of a five-legged sheep! The sailboat you dream of and that will adapt to all sailing styles. Both efficient in regattas and comfortable in cruising, transportable to reach all water bodies, but stiff to the canvas for heavy weather?

At only 8.60 m long, the RR 28 is a design by Paolo Portinari. 2.54 wide, it can be transported behind a car. A very big car all the same since it weighs 2,250 kg. It is available in 2 ballast versions: a fixed keel with a salmon and a lifting pendulum keel with 1 or 2 rudders.

The deckhouse "hood" is quite peculiar. This colourful piece that is added to the deckhouse at the end of the construction serves both as a sunshade on the side portholes, but also provides a circulation of air over the deckhouse to refresh the atmosphere.

In addition to the deck hatch, the bowsprit and rudders are also in colour. These parts can be delivered in various colours to customize your sailboat as you wish.

With 1.90 m of headroom, the interior offers a surprising living space for a yacht of less than 9m. The panoramic vision has also been worked on with 2 front portholes that bring the vision forward.

The modern facilities are quite simple. The aft cabin under the cockpit is open just like the forward one. This avoids bulkheads that reduce the volume. On the starboard side, a toilet with a rounded door completes these arrangements.

As standard, this yacht is equipped with a 13 hp in board diesel engine (Lombardini in sail drive), but there are also plans to install an Oceanvolt electric engine which would be recharged under sail by acting as a hydrogenerator.

On the equipment side, this yacht is fitted with a carbon mast for performance, but also to facilitate masting. The deck layout has been designed to facilitate manoeuvres for performance, but also to make life on board comfortable for the whole family.

Note the smart cockpit backrests that can tilt to become footrests when sitting on the catwalks.

This small sailboat, whose very vertical freeboards might lead you to think it is built in plywood, is in fact a vacuum-built foam sandwich.

The RR28 will be offered in 3 versions: "Light" a dayboat with minimum fittings, "Veloce" which focuses on performance, "Cruise" which offers a complete layout.
