Cockpit of the CX 280

Invictus Yacht took advantage of the Boot Düsseldorf 2017 to unveil the first - and largest - model of its new CX range. The new 280 CX is an 8.7m day cruiser with a cabin under the foredeck. A 360° view of this new model from the Italian shipyard, a sporty, top-of-the-range boat that is resolutely spacious for its size.

The 280 CX is the largest model in Invictus Yacht's new CX range. This range completes the "X" range which already includes the FX series (sport outboards) and the SX series (open hull propelled in board Z-drive). Its hull shape is inspired by the X range, except that here the console is slightly offset to starboard to allow sufficient port entry for the cabin and the bow is decked (to accommodate the cabin). Finally, in terms of powertrain, the 280 CX is inspired by the SX line, namely an inboard engine with a Z-Drive base, which gives it a very large bathing platform. Finally, we find the lines of the X line aboard the 280 CX, notably with the very vertical steering console protected by a wrap-around windshield.

A sporty boat with a beautiful living space

"This range was designed by Christian Grande and reflects the Italian style embodied by Invictus Yacht. Compared to the SX series, the interior volume has been significantly increased, especially compared to the 280 SX, which is the same size, while maintaining the sporty profile. Great attention has been paid to finishes and details, not only in the choice of materials, but also in the chromatic variations" explains the construction site.

The cockpit is divided into three separate living areas. First of all, the large bathing platform almost on the same level as the cockpit houses a comfortable sundeck (under which is the engine compartment). This can be further enlarged by sliding the backrest that separates it from the cockpit bench seat.

The 280 CX is equipped with an inboard engine with Z-Drive base, available in two versions of diesel or petrol engines: Volvo V8 350 HP (max power) or MerCruiser 3L 260 HP. Its cruising speed is predicted to be 21 knots, while its top speed will be 39 knots.

Access to the second living area - the dinette area - is from the bathing platform via a side passageway on the port side. To starboard, the 280 CX is fitted with an L-shaped bench seat with a small round table. The dining area can be extended with two additional seats simply by tilting the cockpit bench seat aft (standard equipment). The retractable bimini (standard equipment) extends from the foredeck to the saloon area aft of the cockpit and provides protection from the sun during the hottest hours of the day.

Up front, the console is no longer central - as on the rest of the X range - but slightly offset to starboard. The slightly retro-looking dashboard is installed on the starboard side, with a two-seater leaning-post.

On the port side is the cabin, which is rather spacious for an 8.7 m model, with a sofa that converts into a double bed. The yard has also managed to fit a separate bathroom with toilet and sink. Finally, in the cabin there is also a minibar and a refrigerator.

Finally, the beautiful foredeck can be accessed from two steps on the starboard side. The space is entirely covered by a sunbathing area with a headrest.

Invictus Yacht proves once again with this new boat all the know-how of the shipyard in the realization of top-of-the-range models. Particular attention has been paid to the upholstery, the details are meticulous, the spacious cabin for a boat of this size and the numerous standard equipment make this boat a perfect family and comfortable day cruiser. The range will be extended by a next model, the 240 CX, in March 2017.
