As every year, journalists from eleven European nautical magazines have chosen the 25 yachts for 2016/2017, which are divided into 5 categories:
The yachts were then tested during the Cannes Yachting Festival which took place at the beginning of September 2016 in Cannes, and during the Grand Pavois of La Rochelle which was held at the end of September on the Atlantic coast. An extra day of testing confirmed the journalists' choices. The boats were judged according to their design, conception and marine qualities.
This year, the choice proved difficult as there were many new models and interesting innovations. In addition to the many mass-produced yachts from the major shipyards, the market was also enriched by small series models.
The five winners (one per category) will be announced at the opening night of the Dusseldorf Boot, which will be held in Germany from 21 to 29 January 2017.
