He's sailing! At the end of July 2016 the boat is in the Mediterranean for a photo session. The latest addition to Wauquiez's Pilot Saloon range will be presented to the public at the Cannes Motor Show in September 2016.
This boat was developed on the hull of the Centurion 57 . From this model, he uses the hull and appendages (rudder and keel). On the other hand, even if the mast is located in the same place, it is shorter. Indeed, the Pilot Saloon is not intended to break records under sail, but rather to offer great comfort and ease of manoeuvre to a small crew.
So even if the boat's fittings are based on the best brands, pS 58 does not hesitate to use assistance: mainsail furling, electric winches and furlers, self-steering jib... Even if they are often taken, all these options are left to the customer's choice.
Like the entire Pilot Saloon range designed and designed by Henri Wauquiez 20 years ago, the 58 is a "real" saloon pilot. Namely, the square is installed at a height to offer a view of the outside once seated on the benches.
As for the layout, this sailboat will be available in 3 or 4 cabins. In the 3-cabin version, the owner's cabin is either at the rear or at the front. In both cases, it has its own office area and private bathroom.
Even if this type of unit can be manoeuvred without the help of a skipper, the very large forward sail compartment can also be fitted with an additional berth, thus acting as a "skipper's cabin".
Note the position of the chart table at the very front of the saloon, with a seat facing the road that will offer a breathtaking view of the front via the huge windscreen. A good comfortable position to consider a long shift in a warm place.
This PS 58, which replaces the PS 55, will be presented to the public for the first time at the next Cannes Yachting Festival (Cannes Yachting Festival from 6 to 11 September 2016) and then in Genoa (Genoa International Boat Show from 20 to 25 September 2016).
