Bavaria R40 (R)range upgrade

After the presentation of the Bavaria E40 - Bavaria Yachts' new powerboat focused on the trawler segment with its semi-displacement hull - at the Boot in Düsseldorf, the German shipyard will present its new speedboat, christened R40, at the beginning of 2016. A small R-Evolution that customers were able to discover on May 7 and 8 in Croatia.

A brand new star

This new 12.78m yacht is presented as something new at Bavaria, in terms of lines, strong exterior design, interior layout and construction method. The R40 will be available in two versions: the Flybridge version will be officially presented at the Cannes Yachting Festival and the Coupe version, which will be presented at the end of 2016.

Already, the lines of the R40 are significantly different from Bavaria's only Fly modelâeuros the Virtess 420: the more streamlined lines give it a sportier feel, the small circular portholes of the Virtess420 have been replaced by large panels, the glass surfaces of the superstructures have been increasedâeuros¦ Bavaria has clearly sought to increase the interior brightness of the boat.

Ãeuros the way of the E40 the letter R stands for: Realize your dreams, Reactive, Fast, Recreational, Restful, Relaxing and Revolution.

A bright and spacious interior

In terms of layout, the team has focused on comfort and relaxation. Thus, there is an ergonomic cockpit with three comfortable seats and a side opening at the helm station. The galley will be installed lengthwise and fitted out with a large work surface.

Below deck, the R40 will offer 2 en-suite cabins. The guest cabin is equipped with a double bed (possibility to install twin beds) with private bathroom (electric toilet and separate shower cabin). The full width owner's cabin has large windows, a large double bed and a sofa to starboard.

A comfortable exterior

Outside, there is a large double sundeck on the foredeck with adjustable headrests and integrated bimini and a cockpit with table and bench seat, as well as a bathing platform with crane (optional) to lift a jet-ski or a 250 kg tender. The interior lounge area is separated from the cockpit by a sliding glass window to create a large living space. In the flybridge version, there is a cockpit in the front with a lounge behind.

35 knots on the clock

The R40 is designed on a new V-hull (designed by J&J in collaboration with S-chines) with electric power steering and the latest generation of trim for a responsive, comfortable and safe ride. The boat is equipped with two Volvo Penta D6-370 engines with electric power steering (standard version) to reach speeds of over 35 knots. The maximum power offered is the Penta D6-400.

An innovative construction process

The construction process used for the R40 is a first for Bavaria, as the sandwich hull, internal floorpan, deck and flybridge are all made using the infusion technique. The boat will be more uniform in weight, stiffer, and of higher quality, the German yard says. The construction process is also evolving as the lower part of the boat, including the two cabins and bathrooms, is built outside the hull.
