Arrow 460-Granturismo, when Mercedez-Benz designs exclusive boats!

In January 2016, we introduced you to the "Granturismo" of the seas, an innovative new luxury motor yacht series. Developed in collaboration between Silver Arrows Marine and Mercedes-Benz Style, the yacht had its world premiere. Discover the "Silver Arrow" of the seas.

The first Arrow 460-Granturismo model, which was to be unveiled in spring 2016 has just been launched. With its elongated, sporty design and taut lines, the Arrow 460 is a beautiful yacht with a pure, innovative design similar to Mercedes Benz cars.

For 4 years, Silver Arrows Marine has worked closely with its partner Mercedes-Benz Style and many of the upcoming names in the yacht design and construction world. The first example of the Arrow460-Granturismo was unveiled on the French Riviera during the launch of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Cabriolet. This first yacht is called Mercedes. The 706 kW (960 hp) yacht is undergoing a series of sea trials in Nice prior to interior finishing, which will be completed in May 2016.

The Mercedes-Benz design philosophy is easily reflected in the lines of the yacht, which has the automotive DNA of its designer. It has a different design than what is found on the water, but also a driving experience unique to the brand. The interior has also been completely reinvented to offer a living space different from what can be found in a 14m yacht.

With its long front deck, arched roof lines and slightly tapering stern, the Arrow460-Granturismo has classic automotive proportions. Concave and related interactions throughout the side create a highly sculptural hull that expresses both dynamism and serenity. The silhouette of the "Silver Arrow" gives it an elegant style and many functional details make life on board practical. Great attention has been paid to the handrails, for example, which are perfectly integrated into the roofline.

With its open design, ingenious features and clever use of light and space, Arrow460-Granturismo offers a new take on day cruising. Designed in the manner of a "cross-over", the yacht offers both the advantages of a traditional open and closed boat with interior and exterior spaces of a size never before seen on this type of unit. Designed to accommodate 10 passengers, the yacht is open and easy to navigate from bow to stern. The cabin can be converted into luxury accommodation for two if required.

Innovative designs include a retractable swim platform (deck on the water) at the stern, a sundeck and a dual console cockpit. Smart glass that adjusts electronically (and allows you to adjust the brightness) is used for the cabin windows and roof. Like a luxury car, the side windows open at the touch of a button, as does the large "windshield." The glass rises to create a pergola effect that allows for ventilation inside the cabin while enjoying UV protection. The deck finish is made from an innovative new composite material that allowed the designers to create a whole new aesthetic for this size of boat.

As with the cars, a prototype was developed to check the ergonomics and ensure the quality of the details. The state of the art hull design was planned as much for comfort and ease of maneuvering as for speed. The Arrow460-Granturismo is powered by two Yanmar diesel engines of 353 kW (480 HP) each. The boat is designed to reach a top speed of 40 knots (74 km/h) in light load conditions and a cruising speed of 26 knots (48 km/h) (figures to be confirmed.)

The yacht is equipped with a dashboard with the latest technology, including, as standard, the twin Disc Express Joystick System for easy maneuvering. This system can be likened to an "ABS braking system of the sea" as on cars, for its ability to perform direct maneuvers. "Even in inexperienced hands, ARROW460-Granturismo is designed and equipped to be exceptionally intuitive and safe to operate." indicates the site.

Production will begin at the end of 2016, but in the meantime, the yacht will be the star of several yachting events in the coming months. The Arrow460-Granturismo will be produced in only 10 units. Each boat will go to a different country, in order to guarantee absolute exclusivity for the owner, imitating the same pattern as for the most exclusive sports cars.
