The largest luxury megayacht of polar class will be launched in 2018

Cruise line Crystal Cruises will launch the world's largest polar-class megayacht. The new ship, which will debut in August 2018, will be optimized for polar - but also tropical - expedition cruises and will have state-of-the-art amenities and a variety of "water toys."

With a length of 600 feet (183 m) and a weight of 25,000 gross tons, the Crystal Endeavor will accommodate 200 passengers in 100 suites. The company is already presenting it as the largest and most spacious megayacht afloat in the world. It is inspired by Captain James Cooks' research ship, HMS Endeavour, on which he discovered Australia and New Zealand nearly 250 years ago. The ship will be designed for global expeditions to the Arctic, Antarctic and tropical destinations. Cristal Endeavor will be built by Werft Groupe Lloyd in Germany. Reservations will open at the end of 2016

"With Crystal Esprit we've discovered that there are many clients, young and old, who enjoy water sports and discovering remote islands, but also that the interests and ages of luxury travelers are increasingly varied. That's why we will continue to expand our range of luxury travel options. Cristal Endeavor will cater to a particularly adventurous audience, one that values comfort and luxury amenities as much as life-changing adventures." said Crystal President and CEO Edie Rodriguez.

A technology for anchorless wetting

This megayacht will be the first Polar Code in the world with a PC6 polar class. It will therefore be able to cruise in the polar regions during the summer and fall (which corresponds to the first ice of the year with some old ice inclusions). Equipped with state-of-the-art offshore dynamic positioning technology, with computer control systems to automatically maintain the ship's position at anchor with the combined action of its propellers and thrusters. This will allow the vessel to anchor over coral reefs or other underwater wonders without the use of anchors which can damage the terrain, but also in waters too deep for anchors.

Sailing from North to South

The Crystal Endeavor will sail through the Arctic, then follow the whale migration route along the coast of the Americas and Europe to Antarctica during the winter. Along the way, the ship will also pass through remote islands in the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, where cruise ships rarely have access.

A complete range of entertainment

An ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicle widely used in the offshore industry) will allow underwater expeditions to view sunken galleons, warships and passenger ships, such as the Titanic at 12,500 feet.

The mega-ship Crystal Endeavor will offer extreme adventures on sea, land and air with a full range of "toys" not usually used on megayachts such as two helicopters (with two helipads) for aerial expeditions, 7-person submarines, eight electric amphibious zodiacs, jet skis, jet skis, kayaks, paddle boards, seabobs, diving and snorkeling equipment with decompression chambers, a tender and a quadski.

Atop this megayacht will be Crystal Cruises' signature Palm Court, which will offer 270° panoramic views for whale and wildlife watching. Cristal Endeavor will feature a spa combined with a 929-square-meter conservatory with yoga, Pilates, a wellness lounge, spas and an infinity pool, which will be covered and used as a dance floor or outdoor dining area. The megayacht will also feature six dining options, as well as several amenities including a 200-seat theater, numerous reading rooms, a movie theater, a card room and a computer area.

The crew will number 200 for a ratio of one guest to one crew member.

Luxurious suites with every comfort

The standard suites will measure a minimum of 37m2 (with a balcony) and two owner's suites will offer a huge 290m2 (150m2 of interior space and 140m2 of balcony). This space will include a master bedroom, two guest bedrooms, indoor and outdoor living spaces, a private veranda, a garden with outdoor spa, a private spa and a gym equipped with sauna, hammam. The owner's suite will be able to connect to a penthouse suite of 75 m2 for a total area of 365 m2 (206 m2 interior 153 m2 exterior).
