This Sunday, October 25, at 1:30 p.m., the 42 boats entered in the Transat Jacques Vabre will set off for 5400 miles towards Brazil, from the Cap de la Hève in Le Havre. But before pointing the bows towards Brazil, the fleet will have to pass the buoy, Conseil Général de Seine-Maritime, in front of Etretat. Here is how to follow the departure of this 12th edition of the Coffee Route.

The sailors' farewell to the Paul Vatine basin

This Sunday morning, the skippers left the Paul Vatine basin. At around 6 am, while everyone was still sleeping, Le Havre was waking up. The sailors were making the last preparations to their boats, loading their last things and saying their last goodbyes. Sodebo was the first to enter the Eure basin, followed closely by Macif, Actual and Prince de Bretagne.

Despite the night, the public was present on the quays and on the sides of the Docks Bridge to watch the parade of boats. A little before 8 am, the last Class40 left the port and now all the boats are at sea waiting for the start.

From now on, 3,000 people are on board shuttles to watch the start of the Transat Jacques Vabre from up close. On the race boats, people are studying the weather data, planning their route, especially since a strong gale is waiting for the duos, starting Monday, October 26. The sailors' crew members are on board to prepare the sails and help the sailors until the last moment.

Admire the show from the dikes of Le Havre

From the quai des Abeilles, at the foot of the Semaphore, there will be a show! The boats will have to pass between the quay and a black buoy so that the public can enjoy this parade. From the Augustin Normand dike, the fleet will also be able to be admired.

Invade the beaches and cliffs in Le Havre

The 1.6 mile long starting line will be anchored in front of the Cap de la Hève. It will be visible from the beaches of Le Havre and Saint Adresse. The Bout du Monde parking lot will offer a magnificent view of the starting line. The fleet will then head towards Etretat, 16 miles from the starting line.

Final preparations

Continue on the beaches and cliffs of Etretat

Two markers to go around will be anchored at 500 m from the cliffs, to observe the passage of the boats from the cliffs or the pebble beaches.
