The Maritime Festivals of Brest 2016 are unveiled

The official poster of the 2016 Brest Maritime Festival was unveiled at the end of May. Produced by the Brest-based communication agency Image de Marque, it pleases as much as it displeases. You be the judge!

The official poster unveiled

The Maritime Festivals of Brest have unveiled the poster of the next edition, which will take place from 13 to 19 July 2016. On social networks, it makes a lot of noise, sometimes loved and sometimes criticized. " It is beautiful. I have to get it... Absolutely." , " not at all, but not at all representative of Brest... it's awful, that's all, I wouldn't do anything to have one in my house" , " I am very disappointed by this poster, where is the city of Brest? And are these boats representative of the boats that can be seen in Brest, because, often the big ships are in Rouen..." , " Very nice poster" , " Exceptional ! As an exiled Brestois, I am looking for this poster in high definition to put it as a background, to hang it on the wall... In short, to promote this magnificent festival of the sea and the city of Brest."

Produced by the Image de marque agency, a communications agency in the port of Brest, it nevertheless features all the elements of Brest 2016: the Abeille Bourbon, a bagpiper, a rig that could be the Hermione, the hull of an old transatlantic, a brass band, the lasers of the night parades, people visiting the boats... Launched at the beginning of 2015, the call for projects attracted the attention of 30 contributors (communications agencies, independent graphic designers, painters...). A committee of 20 people (historical and commercial partners of the festival, representatives of Brest metropolis, panel of young people) has selected the official poster, finding it original and different from the visuals designed for previous editions.

Country of honor and traditional boats unveiled for the 2016 edition

The next edition of the Fêtes maritimes de Brest will take place from July 13 to 19, 2016, on the quays of the port. This great popular gathering created in 1992 celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2012 and took the name of Tonnerre de Brest, with the ambition to become a universal exhibition of the sea. This gathering of traditional boats from around the world takes place every four years and attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors. During the last edition, 715,000 visitors walked along the quays and 1000 boats were present.

The Sedov and the Kruzenshtern

For this 2016 edition, two guest countries of honor are on the program. Russia with the Sedov and the Kruzenshtern and the United States with the sail training ship Eagle. Some thirty tall ships and boats from the French Navy are already scheduled to participate: the frigate Aquitaine and the Monge, a giant radar ship from the Brest Marine Base. The Hermione will also be on the program of the Fêtes maritimes de Brest in 2016.
