Cantiere Savona is an innovative start-up created in 2010 by a group of Sardinian friends, passionate about the sea, sailing and the green economy. Pooling their experience in the nautical field, they have the idea to design, create, produce and distribute a yacht with an innovative concept: a motorboat that sails as quietly as a sailboat. The shipyard is committed to the study of practical and innovative solutions and is working on the improvement related to solar energy applied to boating. The starting point is to rationalize consumption and emissions and the end point is to completely eliminate them, reducing costs for the owner, but also for future generations.
To develop their 11-meter hybrid thermal and solar propulsion prototype, funded by a grant, the young start-up needed funds. So it launched a large crowdfunding campaign in 2014, which proved successful, as the 3 young men managed to raise the 380,000 euros they needed, a sum generously funded by 44 donors. Today, Cantiere Savona is proud to present its first boat, the Luxi 33, an eco-friendly yacht. Luxi" means light and refers to the fact that this boat exploits the light of the sun and that reflected by the sea for the greatest pleasure of its owners. This day-cruiser is entirely built in Sardinia, a concentrate of technology and craftsmanship, with environmentally friendly materials and operates with a hybrid propulsion (combination of a thermal energy source with an electrical energy source) and solar power. According to its designers, the Luxi 33 would be the first boat of its size to have a fast moving hull optimized for electric sailing. It allows to enjoy the sun and the noise of the waves while consuming only 23 liters/hour for a cruising speed of 15 knots. The Luxi 33 is a boat designed for outdoor living, to spend quality time with friends. It has a bow and stern deck, a dining area and sofas as well as an aft swimming platform.
The Luxi 33 is available in two versions, traditional and hybrid.

Cantiere Savona is already working on a new 24m superyacht, the Luxi 95, which will be equipped with SYT, Solar Yacht Technology, dedicated to the production of electricity for propulsion and the operation of onboard systems.
