The Tri60, the new designer dayboat, luxurious and spacious

A trimaran with a revisited design, an interior space worthy of a 90-foot boat, the performance of a racing boat The Tri60 gives a new dimension to dayboats.

The Tri60 is a new trimaran concept developed by BMT Asia Pacific and McConaghy Boats. It is already nominated for "The International Yacht & Aviation Awards 2015" in the category "yacht concept over 40 meters". This new 60-foot trimaran aims to bring together an ideal balance of space, style and speed in a luxurious design platform. Designed to provide power and comfort, the Tri60 is already shaping up to be a revolution in the world of powerboats.

Richard Colwill, Managing Director of BMT Asia Pacific comments " BMT worked with McConaghy for two years on a unique composite design in parallel with the now completed 142-foot trimaran, Adastra. We asked ourselves how we could build on this work to create something so innovative and exciting, yet accessible to the dayboat or weekender segment."

Two possible versions

The Tri60 was developed by BMT's naval architects and engineers who partnered with Henry Ward Design and A Sea Marine for the aesthetics. It is available in two versions, the Tri60 Convertible, where the emphasis is on outdoor living, and the Tri60 Saloon, where a spacious cabin is installed across the full width of the deck. Regardless of the version, the trimaran's hull has been optimized to offer exceptional performance with the guarantee of McConaghy's operational know-how.

Mark Evans, McConaghy's Deputy Managing Director explains " We've combined decades of high-performance composite materials and multihull prototypes to produce a unique boat that blends space, style and speed like no yacht of this size has ever offered."

The space

The Tri60 places great emphasis on space, especially on deck, with a hull configuration that offers unexpected livability, more common on 90-foot yachts. Large windows and sliding glass doors create a link between interior and exterior space. At the stern, a garage can accommodate a 10-foot tender for 4 people. The floats can also be used to store additional deck equipment or water toys.

Style

The Tri60 offers an original construction, enough to attract all eyes to it. At the front, the bow-shaped hull gives the yacht a racy look. The carbon fiber roof serves as a spacious canopy, open to the sky and the stars. The sliding doors and windows, combined with the flexible furniture, allow the owner to quickly and easily adapt the yacht to his or her desires: swimming, resting or entertaining and dining.

Speed and efficiency

The Tri60 can reach speeds of up to 32 knots with its basic engine. It passes through waves smoothly and comfortably, thanks to its narrow hull and optimized pontoon. The hull contains two 475 hp engines that are suitable for both cruising and advanced sailing. With this engine, the Tri60 consumes 30% less energy and fuel than a monohull of equal size at 25 knots.
