Frauscher's latest baby receives the Day-Boats Award

Released this summer, the Mirage 747 owes its name to both the optical phenomenon and the high-performance aircraft, which gives it an aura of mystery. This motorboat "Supercar", modelled on the 858 Fantom, was built in Austria like all Frauscher's other boats. He has just received the Day-Boats Award at the Nautic Design Award.

A dynamic racing boat that also allows you to relax

The exterior reveals the dynamics of the Mirage 747 model while the cabin reveals many innovations that make it easy to use for a small, high-performance day cruiser. At the stern, there is a generous swimming platform, which can reach the cockpit via a corridor. It consists of an "L" shaped bench with two foldable backs. The passenger backrest can be folded to create a kind of chaise longue to enjoy the sun. Finally, the large cabin cushion can be attached to the outer deck to create a large sunbathing area. Many options such as Bluetooth, radio or a fridge give a more versatile dimension to this racing boat with its minimalist design.

The Mirage 747 is available in 4 engines, 3 Z-drive petrol inboards, up to 430 horsepower and a 220 horsepower Volvo Penta D4 diesel block. With a maximum speed of 56 knots, its tank has a capacity of 250 litres.

The Mirage 747 will be presented at the Cannes Yachting Festival in September and will be launched in 2015.

The Mirage 747 described by its creators, Gérald Kiska and Harry Miesbauer

The new Austrian model, the Mirage 747, was built on the same model as the 858 Fantom, both built by the Kiska studio, in collaboration with hydrodynamic expert Harry Miesbauer. However, the Mirage 747 is more about the design of a race car, as well as Frauscher's racing heritage. Gérald Kiska, the designer explains "The 747 Mirage further differentiates the Frauscher brand with a solid design language that is distinct both in its sophistication and its obvious link to automotive design. The classic features of the Frauscher design such as the "Z" as a dividing line, exaggerated characteristic lines and impressive side air intakes, lead to a design that is sophisticated, strong and inspired by racing cars. In terms of performance and style, there's nothing like the 747 Mirage in its category . In this article, we will see how to roll up long ends. In this example the technique is described for a right-handed person.

Harry Miesbauer describes the Mirage 747 "The hull lines of the Frauscher 747 Mirage have a vertical arch with deep front V-shaped sections for a smooth ride in the waves. The rear sections have a deeper V for a more sporty response in curves. Great care has been taken to lengthen the water lines as much as possible to reduce resistance and increase speed in a straight line. Two watering ramps were added just after the step of positioning the arc a little lower in the speed range, just to give it a safer feeling, on the bar, by pushing hard".
